St. Francis Solanus

St. Francis Solanus was a Franciscan missionary from the Province of Andulicia in Spain.  He was sent to South America (Argentina, Bolivia, and Paraguay) in 1590 at the age of 41.  St. Francis Solanus died in Lima, Peru in 1610.  He was known for his preaching, miracles, mercy, and joviality.  Both in Spain and in South America he was regarded as a father to all and recognized as a living spirit.  He was canonized in 1726.  His feast day is July 14.

Father Bart (Retired)

Father Bart

Father Bartholomew (Bart) Minson was born in Brooklyn, NY in October 1938.  He entered the Capuchin – Franciscan Order in 1956 and was ordained a priest in 1964.  He was a missionary and pastor in Okinawa, Japan, and Turkey.  Previous to his assignment here he was an associate at St. John the Baptist Church in midtown Manhattan.
